Some time ago a fellow photographer and friend asked me to participate in a collaborative with other photographers from across the country. Each photographer would submit one image for inclusion in a online publication. There were no rules behind the project and we could create our image in any way we saw fit. We were only given a theme…..fairy.

I decided I wanted to create a studio image that reflects my style of beauty photography. I enlisted the help of my lovely daughter as my model and my makeup and hair goddess, Amy Schaming to help create our fairy look. Riley was a wonderful model and Amy’s work was other-wordly! It was a fabulous exercise in imagination and creativity. Here is the image we submitted to the publication, plus a few other favorites and a closer look at Amy’s incredible work.

Please check out the publication and the work of all the other photographers who worked so hard to submit such beautiful images!

And if you love this theme, you should really check out my friend Heather Larkin’s work at fairyography.com! I had the great pleasure of visiting her in Athen’s last summer. She is not only an extremely talented photographer, but a kind and caring person with a beautiful spirit:)

This is a long overdue post! I have quite a backlog of posts for the blog. I am looking forward to sharing all these sessions with you and will post a few images from each one over the next couple of weeks. My business facebook page has been flooded with images and if you haven’t like that page – Ashley Ward Photography – please go do so! You won’t miss out on the latest over there:)

So, this session was for a very valued client. This was their third session with me and I was so happy to meet the latest precious girl to join their happy brood. The newest daughter was around 7 months and sitting comfortably on her own. This is a perfect time for a baby session. This client decided since her first daughter had a studio session as a baby, and her second daughter had an in-home session as a baby, that doing a combination of both for the third daughter would be a good idea. So that is exactly what we did! I love baby photography sessions. The sitting stage is so precious and one of my favorites to document. Enjoy the images!

I am so excited about all the new bookings for this fall that I have received. I will be taking some vacation/holiday time this year so if you are planning on a session and would like image prior to the winter holidays, do not delay in setting that appointment. Rock and Roll! I adore this little boy! As one of my newborn baby photography session subjects, he holds a special place in my heart. So when mom contacted me about his one year portraits, I was thrilled! The new studio was the perfect place to hold a rock and roll cake smash! This little man had some rock and roll props (and so did I! – see the old radio) and a rock and roll party outfit and who could miss that rockstar hair! Just so adorable. Mom and I were busy, busy, busy during the session with an active 1 year old…..but had so much fun!

Amanda: Ahh... Michael and I are cracking up at that last pic! Love these, love your work!

I sometimes get stumped thinking up titles for all the newborn baby photography session posts to my blog. After all they are all a “precious baby” and “a gift from heaven” and “beautiful”. But the images from this session that were my favorites inspired the title of this post quite easily. I consider myself a lover of all things 80s and this gorgeous little girl with the beautiful head of hair definitely qualified for the title of “Pretty In Pink”!

She was a very good girl for her at home photography session. I am quite behind on blogging the session as we have already completed the maternity session, the newborn session, and mom and dad have already received their beautiful portraits and birth announcements! I am quite sure all the family and friends have already been enjoying those announcements too! But I wanted to share some of her images here anyway, so you can see some of the work that has kept me so busy lately!

And although I have quite a few baby/maternity sessions left to blog, there will be quite a few beauty sessions coming to the blog soon. I hope you will enjoy looking through the images of the different sessions:)

And now….here she is….isn’t she….pretty in pink!

pack 88 pound: I'm impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that's equally educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something which too few men and women are speaking intelligently about. I'm very happy I stumbled across this during my hunt for something concerning this.
